Hi all,

I’m looking for suggestions for places to intern in DC for next summer. Right now I’m complying a list of places I could potentially apply. They all seem to be fairly competitive/selective. I’m guessing this is one of the drawbacks to interning in DC though. Does anyone have any further suggestions? Less selective options would be lovely.

I am a history major and political science minor. I’m primarily interested in a policy career, but I’ve also been looking into something involving museum education or library science. On a personal level, I am interested in women’s rights and reproductive choice.

List so far:
- U.S. Senator’s office/U.S. Congresswoman’s office
- NPR
- Air and Space Museum (Smithsonian)
- American History Museum (Smithsonian)
- Smithsonian Education Center
- Smithsonian Archives
- Governor’s office
- National Portrait Gallery
- National Women’s Health Network
- Emily’s List
- NOW

This is my basic list so far. Of course options like the State Department or White House exist but I consider those options to be absolute reaches/a waste of time.

I’m also attempting to get in contact with my career center at school, so far no luck there. Any tips would be great. Thank you!
