Where to Shop for Men's Shoes For Tennis

Notice I didn’t say “tennis shoes” cause I figured that could be confusing when I specifically want “shoes for tennis”!

Any tennis players out there?

Son will be playing D3 tennis - up until now, he played with his regular array of “athletic shoes” - nothing specifically for tennis. Well now he wants good quality shoes for tennis - we’ve checked Dick’s locally, but he said they had “nothing”. I know we can check a couple of local tennis club pro shops, but they tend to be pricey. Wondering if anyone can suggest other national shoe places or online places where you have had success getting good quality shoes for tennis at decent prices. I willing to pay what we need, but of course, can’t help but at least TRY to find a better price!!!

Did you try Zappos? If you know the brand that fits him well it helps. [K-Swiss Grancourt™ - Zappos.com Free Shipping BOTH Ways](<a href=“K swiss grancourt white navy red k swiss + FREE SHIPPING | Zappos.com”>K swiss grancourt white navy red + FREE SHIPPING | Zappos.com)

DS plays Division I tennis and wears a size 13. I get his shoes from Holabird Sports. Google them and you will be able to find their website. They have a fantastic selection of shoes for playing tennis. DS will only wear the Adidas Barricade model. I just checked the website and see that the Barricade V has been discontinued. If your son likes this shoe, the remaining inventory is on sale. Unfortunately, size 13 in my son’s prefered color choice is sold out. These are expensive shoes, but there is a 6 month guarantee from Adidas. If the shoe gets a hole in the outsole within 6 months of purchase, Adidas will replace the shoe. Save the original box and your receipt. We have had numerous pairs replaced by Adidas.

Perhaps your son could contact his coach to see if he has any arrangements with shoe companies or local stores.

Foot Locker sells tennis shoes and would at least let him try on some styles and sizes. Sports shoes tend to be all over the map on sizes, which makes it hard to guess at a size for online ordering until you figure out how sizing runs in a particular brand.

Eastbay.com has a great selection of sports shoes. I haven’t seen their collection of shoes specifically marketed for tennis, but take a look at their website. Free shipping, too.

Holabird sports is excellent. I’ve worn many a pair of tennis shoes anf have settled in with one of the high end K-Swiss models. When I had some biz in Baltimore I got to their storefront a while back. Staff there said that some people have traveled from as far as Ontario to make their Holybird pilgramage, but you can let your mouse do the shopping…

Thanks for the suggestions! He was looking at Holabird last night - no decisions yet, it seemed that alot of the ones he was clicking on were available in store only. I was trying to steer him towards the adidas barricade - they did still have his size!

I used to order all my tennis shoes from holabird, back in the day when I ordered online. Now I play at a lot of tennis clubs as part of a women’s doubles league and am able to find sales at different pro shops. I just bought two pair of shoes from the adidas outlet in the premium outlet mall in the next town over.

For my tennis shoes, I go to Big 5 or Sports Authority (or another sports store, even a tennis store) and try on shoes. I usually find 2-3 pairs that I like, and they’re usually pretty pricey in stores.

I find the exact shoes on amazon, tenniswarehouse, or holabirdsports and find which has the cheapest price (including shipping!). I usually stock up, since I don’t like changing my shoe models frequently. I wear a model of Wilson’s right now, and I have 2 pairs as back up (broken in, but I rotate them when I practice and bring an extra pair to matches). A few years ago, I did find good shoes at an outlet for an amazing price, so I just bought those instead of checking for prices online.

Remember that the shoes that may be most comfortable may not be the best looking, so at least go to some store to try them out before ordering!
