Visiting D for the weekend soon and was hoping to drive to Charleston for a girls shopping day with lunch. As we have never been there I am hoping for suggestions…where to shop, eat, etc. It should take about 2 hours from Columbia so it seems doable for a daytrip. Or if anyone has any other suggestions/places. We have already exhausted the limited shopping in and around Columbia. Thanks for the help.

All the shopping is on King Street in Charleston. Lots of chain stores, Talbots, Ann Taylor, etc. and smaller specialty stores. There are so many restaurant choices in Charleston! One of our favorites is S.N.O.B. (Slightly North of Broad) or High Cotton.

If you’re just looking for a typical mall that’s larger than Columbiana, Charlotte is closer/quicker than Charleston for a day trip. South Park in Charlotte has everything you can imagine. There is also Concord Mills, a huge outlet, just 10 minutes north of Charlotte.

Charleston has a great open air market on Market St which runs from East Bay St. to Meeting St. with some great local vendors mixed in with some touristy kind of vendors. I always seem to find it fun and interesting to visit before heading up to Kings St (as mentioned above) for some major shopping. Charleston is great and you will fall in love instantly. Have fun!

Charleston is a great place to visit for a weekend. As mentioned before, the open air market is very interesting and the city itself is a wealth of history. Lots of intriguing stories about the homes and city. Also, if there are some fun ghost walks at night. You won’t be disappointed.
