Where to start?

I’m currently a rising junior at a competitive new england boarding schools. I have decent grades (3.6 GPA unweighted) in all honors + AP courses and I’m involved in several EC’s and activities (100+ hours of community service, photography, XC, track, campus tour guide, MUN, school newspaper). However as of now I’m somewhat undecided as to where I want to apply for college. Next year I’ll be taking the PSAT and SAT (I’m a good test taker) but my parents also want me to plan out a college trip this august to go see schools. I excel in mathematics, history, and foreign language, but I don’t have a clear idea as to what I want to major in. Is there any good place to start?

P.S. my school doesn’t provide college counselors until junior winter, so that’s out of the question.

It’s really hard to advise without test scores and many people will say that August isn’t the time to go. However, I think it’s not bad to get a sense of types of schools (urban vs. suburban, large vs. small) and could be worth seeing a few even before the students return. (or in late in August when some schools may be populated again). I would lean toward places you think are more likely rather than spending time going to Ivies. Or choose an area and see a range of places. Try to include a suburban or rural liberal arts college to get a sense of that. (i.e.Trinity or Conn College if you go to New York or Boston, Haverford, Franklin and Marshall if you go to Philadelphia). Unless you enjoy driving I wouldn’t spend hours driving all over the northeast at this point.
