I have the misfortune/fortune to stay overnight in Las Vegas. Is there a place to stay that is neither glitzy or seedy? Sorry I am showing my bias.
We liked this place:

Clean, with a coffee shop in the lobby. No glitz or seediness. Typical Marriott villas. It was nice to have a kitchenette and not be in the middle of the strip.
Also Marriott Signature suites at the MGM grand have a separate entrance from main hotel entrance and has small lobby. The rooms have kitchenette.
Some are privately owned.
Do you need to stay in a particular area of town? If you will have a car, check out the JW Marriott in Summerlin:
It’s out in the suburbs, about 20 driving minutes from the airport. It has a nice pool area, a terrific spa, and several restaurants on site. There is golf across the street, and two shopping/dining areas just down the street. No glitz or seediness anywhere nearby.
If you’re just looking for a place to sleep for the night, and you want to be close to the airport, there are several places just south of the airport. There’s a Doubletree on Pollock Drive, a La Quinta on Surrey Street, and a Hampton Inn on Eastern Avenue (just south of Sunset Road). No bells and whistles at any of them, but all are in in safe areas and super close to the airport.
I live in Las Vegas, so if you have any other questions, feel free to ask!
Check out the area near red rock. Canyon or park also.ithink it’s near sumerlin.
Thanks so much! I’ll check them all out. Yes, I will have a car.
Henderson is a good place to stay to the south. Summerlin to the northwest.
Variables include what days you plan to stay, what is your budget, how many star hotel do you desire, and how far you are willing to drive.
Do note that if you are planning on coming into the strip, just about all hotels charge for parking now, and a lot of money at that.
I’m not a big fan of LV either but had an enjoyable trip because we focused more on the surrounding areas - Red Rocks, Hoover Dam, and even did a day trip to the grand canyon from there. I will say that there were some fabulous restaurants. We also stayed at the Marriott.
No, no strip for me. I would fly to somewhere else to avoid Las Vegas but the fare can’t be beat. I am coming in very late on a Saturday night and leaving Sunday mid-morning.
In that case I would stay somewhere close to the airport like the LaQuinta that was mentioned earlier in this thread. Free shuttle free parking.
Don’t rent a car. Use the hotel shuttle like suggested above. You will spend extra 40 minutes just to get the car and then another 30 to return. Use Lyft if you must. Transportation is plentiful around Las Vegas airport.
Checking for clarity…you are just going to be sleeping there for one night?
If so…stay at a hotel near the airport that has shuttle service.
Why would you need a car for just one overnight?
OR are you going to be there for a week?
I am there for one night before driving to another place next day. I agree I should spend the night near airport and pick up a rental car next day.
thumper you changed your avatar! All those cute cats, you and BunsenBurner’s.
Depending on where you’ll be driving the next day, you might want to start heading that direction and getting a room a little way out of the city. For instance, if you’re headed south on I-15 you could get a cheap room in Primm.
Are you flying back from Vegas, too? If you are doing a one way rental, I recommend renting at a place other than the airport. There are usually extra fees associated with airport car rentals. But if you are coming back, convenience beats paying extra.
@Sherpa, I am getting there a bit before midnight. I think a free shuttle is the way to go. I will get the car the next morning.
@BunsenBurner Yes, flying back from Vegas.
@igloo Check that the hotel shuttle operates that late. Smaller hotels may only have shuttle service during peak hours.

Maybe this will help??
You may just want to buy a room at Hotwire or similar, specifying free shuttle and choose near airport for a low priced lodging. Sometimes you can get amazing deals.
@MaterS Good point! It will be a bummer if the shuttle had stopped running when I arrive.
