anyone have any input on where to stay near Texas State? We were
thinking of staying in Austin - near the airport because we have a early
am flight out. Any suggestions? thanks in advance

The Austin airport is only 40 minutes from Texas State but keep in mind that the audition day starts at 8am and runs until 9:30pm so you might not want to be doing those drives early before the audition and late after the audition.

D and I are flying in on Friday afternoon and staying at the Comfort Suites (Hampton Inn is also right next door) which is minutes from TSU. Our flight home is at 10am so we don’t have to get up super early but early enough that D wanted to fall in bed after the audition and get up for the drive to the airport in the morning.

It’s really 6 of one half a dozen of another depending on how early your flight is (6am or thereabout I too would have considered staying at an airport hotel) and when you want to do the driving.

Which audition are you going to be at? D is this coming weekend…so excited (it’s gonna be warm and today it was -16 with the wind chill, only concern is will our flight get out on time but it is warming up a bit in the Northeast by Friday so we should be ok).

thank you so much for that info! D has audition not until Feb 15th. Your information was helpful! Did not realize that the airport was 40min away. Break a leg and enjoy the warm weather! I’m not sure what we will do- We do have a early am flight (ughhhhh)

What cellomom said… OR you can stay in San Marcos the night before the audition and head to Austin after the audition day to be closer to the airport in the morning. Like cellomom said “6 of one, half a dozen of another”.

There is also a Hampton Inn in Kyle TX. About 20 min to San Marcos and 20 min to airport.

Correction, wife informs me it’s in Buda.

I have stayed at the Hilton on the grounds of the Austin airport. It is a nice hotel with a convenient shuttle–but you are probably renting a car anyway.

Thank you everyone!!! this helps so much!
