Where to study biological basis of behavior?

Hey, I’m looking for a grad school / faculty member whose research deals with biological basis of behavior. Probably with more of neuroscience concentration than psychology. Any ideas? :)

Kenneth Catania at Vandy comes to mind. There are many more elsewhere, it just so happens he teaches a class on that exact topic here haha.

What exactly are you interested: topic, model, etc? What do you want or not want to do on a daily basis. That would help us give you suggestions.

Columbia’s Brain & Behavior program comes to mind as having a lot of faculty doing behavioral neuroscience. But yes, “behavior” is a pretty broad term. Are you interested in drug addiction research on rodents? Thermotaxis in C. elegans? Decision making in humans?

Thanks for the replies so far. I’m mostly interested in human behavior, but also the behavior of various vertebrate animals which correlate to patterns and tendencies of human behavior interest me. More particularly, I’m interested in aggression, sexual behavior, sexual selection, and innate behavior. Any more ideas?

Do a literature search of the areas you are interested in. This is a great way to find potential faculty mentors. I am less familiar with the areas you are interested in, but here are places to look at: MIT, Harvard, Duke, NYU, Michigan, UCLA, wisconsin, Stanford, Illinois-Urbana Champaign

Good luck

^ I agree. I found a lot of the faculty in the field of my interest, which isn’t something I have done much of in undergrad, by looking at reviews and looking at paper’s that were sourced a lot… you very quickly realize the main labs doing the research you want to do.
