Where do you think I would place, in terms of the applicant pool, from a purely objective point-of-view (without considering ECs)? I applied to AEM.

SAT: 1540/1600; 2280/2400 (740CR+W, 800M)
SAT II: 800 Math II; 740 Physics (very disappointing but I didn’t think they would change from a rejection to acceptance if I got 800 instead)
GPA: School doesn’t calculate/send
Rank: School doesn’t calculate/send
IB predicted grade: 43/45 (on senior year transcript) bumped up to 44/45 on the mid-year report
IGCSEs: 5A+, 4A, 2B (Physical Education and German)
Financial Aid: No
Location: International from Hong Kong

Our school follows the British system and hence we take GCSEs for freshman and junior year and the full IB diploma for junior and senior year (AP, Honors or any other American courses are not offered).

And NO ONE here can tell you where you stand within the context of the entire applicant pool for the simple reason that they have not seen the entire applicant pool. Moreover, as the admission is holistic, even if your objective stats are more than perfect, (Valedictorian, 48/45 predicted IB grade, 4.9 unweighted GPA, 2500 SAT, ALL SAT Subject tests with 850 on all of them), that would not guarantee a positive admission decision. Or maybe it could, I don’t know, which leads me to the last and IMHO most important aspect, none of us know the strategic direction admissions might be taking in any particular year or how they intend to build the class. So we cannot chance you.

All you get is a bunch of information, that does not correlate. Besides, what do the opinions of random anonymous posters on the net have any bearing on? You applied! Leave it at that. Even if we all think you are the perfect applicant, a shoe-in everywhere, Jesus incarnated, it would all amount to sh** once Stanford rejects/waitlists you (not that that would happen, nor do I wish for it to)

So just rest assured that you did your best and deal. I know that nerves are kicking in and you must be looking for any form of reassurance, but this will just mislead you, either positively or negatively or in most cases further confuse you. In about 49 days we will know. try and relax until then.

(Sorry for the rant/sanctimonious-ish post, I hope I wasn’t too harsh :D)
