Where would you say a 2130 is compared to the rest of America?

In the middle 50 percentile?

2130 is comparable to the old 1420, which is a very respectable score. it may be inthe middle 50 percentile for CC and Cornell, but compared to the rest of america, i’d say easily in the 95th%+, and your individual sections may be a little higher or lower than this figure. Not sure if this post is an ego booster or an honest question (most students, especially ones as concentrated on their future as you, know their percentiles on a national level.)

It’s just that compared with the people on this site, my scores don’t even seem like their in the 50 percentile.

if u got a 2130 you should be smart enough to know that it is a very good score compared to the average american score. it is sad if u didn’t know that
(is it not obvious that nearly every high school student posting on this site is fairly intelligent, and that many are applying and being accepted to ridiculously good schools?) . however, you do know that…and you know it. after all, collegeboard lists your percentages when it reports your scores. hope you feel better now that everyone has acknowledged your intelligence, (that was what you wanted when you started this thread right?). pathetic.

Perhaps my title have mislead you guys. My question is how does a 2130 compare with the average Cornell applicant, not the rest of America.

Do you really think a 2130 is good?

It’s alright.

oh, ic. still, a 2130 is a respectable score among cornell applicants (not huge, but i don’t think it will be looked down upon). likewise, you must still think about who is posting on cc: it’s full of some of the most brilliant (in terms of sat scores mind you) and concerned students in the country. you’re fine, stop worrying, and just chill out for the next 20 days or so until you find out.

why wouldn’t 2130 be not good? i mean, say each section was 700, then that would be 2100. so yea, 2130 is good. maybe not Princeton or Harvard good, but i think for the openmindedness of Cornell, its good. besides, this is the first year that the new sats are administered so only more years of test taking will there be studies and averages made on what scores is good and what scores aren’t.

haha, i wonder how good a 2050 is? it falls in the middle percentile so I guess that should be good enough

and i wonder if a m+v is way more significant than overall!

Don’t they tell you your percentile next to your score on CB?

^^ I think it’s for each individual section, not overall. Unless I’m mistaken

you can estimate from psat’s i would guess 2140 is the 99% cuz that’s where it began last year?

I know it’s for each section, but really I think it gives you a rough estimate - you hardly see people getting 800 on one section and 400 on another.

Look, I found a link that shows you the percentiles for SAT I combined scores, but it’s on the 1600 scale.

<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools;

Man, be happy with anything over 2050. Realistically, does it matter that much?

Do you realize what else you could be doing beside stydying for the SAT again? A 2130 is solid. As for myself, a bad standardized test taker, I settled with a 2090.

The thing that I hate with the SAT is that it doesn’t test anything. I’m more comfortable with the SAT 2s, getting 750+ and 5 on APs than on the SATI.

If you think about it, your will and determination plays a lot in taking these tests. SAT 2s are more like content tests; similar to what you take in school. The SAT I is a strange, ugly, 5 hour exam that no one likes.

amen brother.

LOL, my 2050. right on the line for the middle 50th percentile. SAT II’s are okay, unless you have a terrible teacher who didn’t teach squat all year!!! This was the case with my biology score, bah

Id say the national average is closer to 1500…so judging from that, I’d say the score is “pretty good” for sure, lol.

As for Cornell, you’re still fine. Don’t worry so much, and try to enjoy youre senior year.
