<p>We are going to be in Milwaukee Friday night for just one night. Where is the best place to eat? We will be staying downtown at the Hilton, and we are very adventurous eaters, so any and all suggestions are welcome!</p>
<p>I don’t know if they are the best places in town, but we have enjoyed dinner more than once at the following two restaurants:</p>

<p>You can check out the menus online and see if they’re to your liking. I believe both restaurants are less than a mile from the Hilton.</p>
<p>If you are looking for something different, I recommend Three Brothers Restaurant. Serbian food. Delish! I think it is somewhere near downtown, can’t tell you exactly where, we are always driven by our Milwaukee relatives. You should save room for some frozen custard, I think the name of the custard place is Hopp’s? YUMMY!</p>
<p>Sanfords is pricey but great food. Wide variety.
The restaurants at the Potowotmi casino are actually very good.
A great German resturant is Karl Ratzchs
A great steak place is Mo’s also pricey.
Kopps is the custard place but not near downtown.</p>
<p>For German I have been to Mader’s German Restaurant</p>
<p>Also this weekend is Festa Italiana–on the Summerfest gounds on the lake.</p>
<p>What is Festa Italia like? Is it all italian food or is it just fair food? Music etc?</p>

Sun.

<p>My husband, native Milwaukean, seconds Mader’s. </p>
<p>Bratwurst and sauerkraut is kind of the quintessential Milwaukee meal. I asked my husband where to find good brats in Milwaukee and he looked at me blankly and said, “Everywhere…?” He’s no help!</p>
<p>Be sure to stop at Kopp’s Frozen Custard (Port Washington and Silver Spring would be the closest location to downtown) for a truly amazing frozen dessert experience. I’m from Texas which means I will swear up and down that Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla ice cream is the best thing in the entire world, but I had to stop dead in my tracks when I tasted frozen custard. I had to take back about a year’s worth of ice cream smack-talk in order to admit that I was wrong, but I unabashedly did so without hesitation. So delicious. We’ll make two or three trips when we’re in town for holidays. Good stuff. (Don’t look at the nutrition information.)</p>
<p>While you’re at Kopp’s, you can also try some Sprecher root beer… it’s a local brewery, and they use honey as one of their sweeteners, so it’s absolutely delicious. Occasionally, my amazing mother-in-law will ship us a box.</p>
<p>As you might imagine, a root beer float made with Sprecher and vanilla frozen custard is about the closest thing to perfection.</p>
<p>So it likes it will be cold in milwaukee Friday night, so it likes Mader’s may win out over Festa Italia – although my Husband will go anyway, anytime and do just about anything for good ice cream.</p>
