This joke has gone on too long.

The heating works well. I’ve never heard complaints.

Dartmouth really has excellent dorms. They are always building new ones and knocking old ones down (or completely renovating them).

Oh, every dorm has heating and the heating works well. No heating in any building here would be like murder. I was just saying that if it’s very cold, Hanover (outdoors) becomes a giant freezer.

Haha I would kill to get in here, no matter how cold it gets. ILOVE hanover and i LOVE Dartmouth :)

The “whether” today in Hanover-not so nice. Lots of sleet and some snow on our way home from dropping our son off-looks a lot like Christmas though, and the Christmas tree on the green should be pretty.

Actually, that sleet and snow and rain is all up and down the East Coast. Not unique to Hanover.

i would be happy to even experience all that tortuous weather there

compared to the midwest, my son has found dartmouth whether quite tolerable. sure, it’s cold and snowy, but there isn’t a lot of wind and that helps considerably.

Yeah, there isn’t a lot of wind here. The weather becomes tolerable after a while. But the short days can be depressing at times.

My question is how much sun is there? Anyone can handle snow and cold (blizzarding outside as i type) but if it’s gray all winter, it won’t be nearly as tolerable.

It seems to be sunny a lot, based on what I can tell from the two Dartmouth webcams- there is one on the Baker Library tower and another an the roof of the Hanover Inn- you can google them.

This sums it up for me:

Sunny today, but my son says it was 6 out this morning with a windchill factor of -9 when he took his exam this morning.

It was freaking freezing this morning. In general, the mornings are pretty nasty… cold and cloudy/foggy usually. But midday is usually more bearable and sunny.

New England isn’t always this cold!! Haha this morning we had a -23 windchill and an air temp of like… 4.

It’s usually not gray. In fact, sometimes it’s too sunny and the snow blinds you. The wind can be bad once in a while, but in general is fine. The late spring/summer/fall makes winter worth it :)

Yep… sounds just like home. But if the wind isn’t bad ALL the time, it’s actually better.

I have a 9S and it is foggy/cloudy more often than not in the mornings.

wow I dont think I can survive in hanover!
I live in CA and its around 75 F during the day and 50-60 during the night and morning time. How am I supposed to adapt to 4 degree weather.

Just like the rest of the 18% from the West Coast. I grew up in Socal and have managed on the E coast for 3 decades.

Literally all but one of my so-cal friends are doing fine. They had always imagined that it was going to be worse than it was.

It’s really not as bad as I thought it might be either. Also, the Dartmouth co-op makes excellent scarves!
