whether in Hanover, NH ?

is Hanover( NH) very cold in DEC, JAN, FEB ?

yes, yes, yes, hanover can be very cold in Dec, jan and february. The one thing I noticed, is my D thinks that NYC winters are warm and calls me a wuss everytime I complain about the weather.

The whether’s good.

thanks, both of you.

if you are seriously looking at Dartmouth you should know it is weather, not “whether.” This is basic spelling…

^That was my first thought, too. But as for weather, probably fairly cold winters and decent summers. Essentially, the same as all of New England.

I mean, this might have just been an unfortunate typo that didn’t get corrected; let’s not crucify this person so soon.

(Seriously though, if you thought that was the actual spelling, your education as a whole may not have prepared you for schoolwork at Dartmouth. The spelling ‘error’ in my sn is intentional)

The weather in Hanover is freezing during the winter with lots of snow, and mostly temperate at other times. (Temperate in the colloquial sense, not the meteorological one)

How that affects you depends on how you dress and where you’re from.

big difference between a TYPO (weater, wether, acceptable) and a spelling error/mixing homophones.
When I was in Hanover, there was a period of like, 3 days when we were the coldest spot ON EARTH. -40, with -60 windchills. But now that I’m in the Midwest (and suffered through other brutal winters with higher temperature), Hanover winters are def. manageable. Not as much wind. Lot of sun during the day. Here, it’s windy and gray all the time. Hanover’s not nearly that miserable. And the snow, as long as it’s not brown and mucky, is quite pretty.
Spring (the 2 weeks of it that you get to enjoy) and summer are most beautiful there. If I could do sophomore summer for the rest of my life, I’d totally be down to do that.

WHETHER THE WEATHER

Weather

Whether the weather be fine
Or whether the weather be not
Whether the weather be cold
Or whether the weather be hot
We’ll weather the weather
Whatever the weather
Whether we like it or not.

nsrjsyt may have set us up.

Does anyone know what the weather is like during the summer?

Dartmouth College requires all sophomores to attend the summer term. Reputed to be a wonderful bonding experience. The weather is warm enough to swim outdoors, although lake water can be very refreshing. Short sleeve shirts & shorts are fine in the summer.

A family friend of mine that went to Dartmouth told me that the coldest and hottest temperatures he has experienced in his life were at Dartmouth–apparently there was a mad heatwave during his soph summer…

Snowball fights on the green now.

best snowball fight–ever, such good timing considering it was on the last day before break.

Trust me, you will not like the whether here, weather it’s hot or cold. Warm is nice, but when it’s hot, it’s like an oven in the rooms because most dorms are not air conditioned. When it’s cold, the whole place turns into ice.

Are you serious? No heating/cooling in the dorms?

There’s heat in the dorms… probably not A/C though. If you’re used to hot climates, it doesn’t get all that hot in NH… there’s a few 90+ days, but that’s about it. Winter isn’t that bad, depending on what you’re comparing it to. I live in an identical place to Hanover (a valley in Northern New England… except I’m in Maine and a little north of where Hanover is). Sometimes the temp dips into negative numbers… but that’s mostly at night. A typical winter day is between 15 and 25 degrees. There is snow cover from mid-Dec to March-April, usually. You -need- shoes with substance… I’ve personally never owned winter boots, but they’re more than useful, especially if you’re going to live in the River.

There’s four distinct seasons… winter, mud (spring), summer, and autumn. It’s absolutely beautiful if you enjoy the outdoors.

The new dorms have air-conditioning

Does anyone know weather or not the heating works in all dorms???
