Whether to retake the SAT?

I am an international applicant from delhi, india. I am currently in my junior year. I took the December SAT and scored 2130(Cr-740, W-680, M-710) Should I retake it if I am targeting UMich Ross (preadmit), Georgetown-Mcdonough, Cornell - Dyson? I have decent ecs and good High school grades. I also plan to take two subject tests .

if you have good gpa and get good score on your subject tests you are good

It depends. Here’s my rationale. Reaching the 2000+ range means it is really difficult to get perfect or even near perfect scores. You’ve basically plateaued and you’re only getting a few questions wrong each time. This means the chance that you score much better gets much lower as your score rises, and the chance you do worse or about the same is slightly higher. By retaking, you will probably spend a decent amount of time maintaining and getting better as well as having to shell out the registration fee, which could go towards something else more necessary. Also check out Forbes’ rankings because they have SAT score ranges for all American universities. You may have reached the range for most of these schools already.
However, if this is your first score, then by all means retake it, but limit it to only two more retakes. You have March, May, June, and October to get all of your testing done, so you should partition your time in such a way that you can maintain your grades, prep for SAT I, and prep for SAT II’s. Hope this helps! Good luck on your endeavors!!

It is almost always a good idea to take the SAT twice. The majority improve the second time. Best of luck!

I’m from India too.I think it’s better to retake the SAT again because you just might improve by 100 or more points if you know what went wrong the first time.I took the SAT in October and scored 2200 and I am retaking it.
(hoping to improve by atleast 50 points!)

Thanks for the advice!
Rohit2400 are you thinking about applying to b-schools as well?
