Would you recommend AmeriCorps to someone who wants to become a math teacher? And, would you recommend AmeriCorps to someone who wants to apply for a Master’s in Math Education without an undergraduate degree in Education or Mathematics?
From what I know about Americorps, it’s not something you necessarily do to improve job prospects unless maybe you want to go into social work or something like ESL teaching. It won’t hurt your prospects though, and it does provide a nice scholarship/student loan help. Bottom line is, I would say go for it if it’s something that genuinely interests you, but I wouldn’t recommend it as a resume builder/head start on your career.
