I really want to get the National AP Scholar Award. Right now im in sophmore yr and am taking world history ap, computer science ap, and spanish ap. I have gotten a 5 on the human geography ap test (freshman yr). Here is my planned courseload for junior yr:

English AP
Physics 1 AP
US History AP
Calculus BC AP
Statistics AP
Psychology AP(half semester)/ SAT-ACT prep
Computer Science 3

Are these good AP classes and tests to take? Or should I replace any of these APs with another AP?

That’s a really challenging schedule…the only thing I can see is replacing AP Physics 1 with AP Physics C, since you’re in calculus (physics C is calc based). But in terms of challenge, this is definitely enough! (I’d go crazy :D)

So if Physics C is calc based, what is AP Physics 1 about? And do you need pre-existing knowledge to do AP Physics 1 or is it ok if it is also your first physics course? I think Physics C will be too hard for me because I have not taken a physics course yet…

AP Physics 1 and 2 are algebra based (compared to AP Physics C Mechanics and Electricity & Magnetism). The prerequisites really depend on your school. Some require you to have taken a previous physics course, and will teach with that expectation. Others allow physics 1 (and even C) without anything beforehand.

If you’re a logical thinker, and strong in math (which from your schedule, you definitely seem to be), I think you’ll be fine. But with your schedule, you may want to opt for an easier option.

Also, one last thing to consider is that physics 1 is generally considered a semester-long class. I’m assuming that at your school it’s year-long?
