Which AP tests to take?

I’m a senior and I plan on being a bio major, but I have interest in all the sciences. I am haivng difficulty deciding which AP tests to take. It’s my senior year and the prospect of studying for 6 tests doesn’t appeal to me. (not to mention the $492 it would cost) I was shooting for four, but any advice is helpful.

AP’s:
Physics B
Biology
Chemistry
Calc AB
Econ (both)
Gov

thanks!

My advice is to think about the subject matter (not the teacher) that you like the least, and take those four tests. Assuming you do well, that could exempt you from having to revisit the material in college. On the other hand, it wouldn’t be that much fun having to sit through four three-hour tests on subjects you don’t like. You shouldn’t take a test you don’t think you’ll get a 4/5 on, since Duke only gives credit for fours and fives.

Make sure you check out Duke’s web site here: http://www.aas.duke.edu/trinity/t-reqs/apcredit.html</a> There’s a lot of good info (for example, Duke doesn’t give credit for AP Physics B).

dont bother taking Physics B, no credit can be earned. DEFINITELY take Calculus AB Chemistry and Biology

biology, chemistry, calc and gov would be my choices. Obviously you want to get credit at duke, so physics B is useless.

thanks all.

RIght now I’m unsure about gov and bio…

I already have 5’s in Euro and US so I’m leaning away from gov. And with bio, I don’t know if i know as much as I should (my class is entirely to easy therefore I study less than ideally)

But I am definitely not taking Physics B, because I feel the need to act as if I am actually going to get accepted…but is teaching myself the additional info required for Physics C possible or am I kidding myself?

If you were taking calc BC, then maybe teaching yourself the additional material would be feasible, but I would say there are much better uses of your time. If I were you I would study hard for calc AB (only a 5 receives credit here) and take biology, chemistry, and econ. Those four tests will be the most useful if you matriculate here (or any other top school).
