Which bank should I choose to be the lender?

I’m applying for the Federal Stafford loan I guess and it asks for me to choose a bank to be the lender, either the Citizens Bank of Pennsylvania or the PNC Bank. Which one should I choose? Does it really matter?

My daughter choose Citizens because she has her school accounts (checking/savings) with them. And we chose Citizens for her accounts because they have a branch in our town (we live in NY) and PNC does not.
Otherwise, I do not think it matters, although PNC is a bigger and more well known bank in Pittsburgh.

Both Citizen’s and PNC are both in Pittsburgh, I believe.

when is the last date for this?

and also,

what do we have to do for th perkins and the CMU Gates loan??

CMU Gates loan = I think you have to apply through the HUB website…

Perkins = I think CMU do this for us.

The stafford and plus are due today, but if I complete it a few days later, will it make a difference?

i hope so, as I havn’t done it yet…

i don’t think it’s DUE today… I think you can fill out stafford and plus starting today 6/1… correct me if i’m wrong

on the now that im enrollin website, it sas the deadline is june 1st. But, in the MPN form which we got, it says the earliest we can do it is June 1st?

What the f*** is goin on??

holy crap.
let’s just fill out the application today -_-

i’m sorry for the confusion

If you review any of the Stafford/PLUS lenders web sites, you will discover that there really is not a due date. However. there is a danger of applying too early.

From an experienced parent, do not apply for your student loans any earlier than 3 months prior to 1st day of classes. Reasons 1) Loan people are processing graduating 2006 students’ loans. 2) They are beginning to process loans for summer fulltime students. 3) Some of the official acceptance from your school are not wholely put together. 4) What the loan people told me, " application is circular filed."

If you apply prior to 3 months of your 1st day of classes. The application will be rejected out right. They will not tell you this, and when it comes to Sept 1, and you see a $150 late payment fee, an on investigation you will discover that your application has not been processed, or even received. The loan approval will take only a few days, but only after the school have you on their rolls.

The application is very simple, If you take more than 10 minutes, (The Stafford and PLUS applications are essentially similiar.) you got problems and should not be going to this school.

RELAX.

I just completed the stafford loan app… very simple if you have 2 relatives and PIN… Now I have to fill out the gate loan thing… so many loans and grants -_-

do we have to fill out anything for the grants?

Nope, grants are credited to your account automatically. If you got a named scholarship (which means someone donated big bucks), you’ll be asked to write a thank-you note to the donor or their family, but it’s not a huge deal, and they bribe you with pizza.
