Which book should I choose to buy?

I have this $30 gift card at Amazon, so I chose books to buy to review for the January SAT.
I chose this 2 books: Barron’s SAT Subject Test: Biology E/M, 3rd Edition, and Kaplan 12 Practice Tests for the SAT 2013.

The problem is that I am not at US so additional shipping payments apply, so my order exceeded my gift card by $7.50, I can’t finish to confirm my order then. Aside from the two that I was hopefully planning to get, I have incoming books to read from someone: official SAT study guide, barron’s chemistry and math level 2.

I am planning to take SAT biology and chemistry, perhaps math as well, but that additional 12 practice tests seems very good for quite a long time to review. So I need your opinion which only one to buy so I could afford my only way on them, my $30 gift card.

Please tell your opinion.

Sorry on that. Any input or help is still appreciated.

I have a $25 Amazon card I’d like to give to you, if you are able to use it where you are. (It was purchased in the US.). Please PM me if you can use it, and I will send you the card number and claim code. I’ d like you to be able to get both books. :)

TXMom95 - your post is going to make me smile all day!

Just so you know–these books are dirt cheap on resale sites (half.com, ebay, . . . , also amazon). People buy, use, re-sell, but there’s a huge supply of them.

@TXMom95 I am smiling inside because of you Madam! Thank you very much! I have PMed you. :)

@MyLB The problem with resale books are the additional shipping costs aside from the original expensive shipping costs.

Thank you for all your input Sir/Mam! All is appreciated! I am really happy!

My son always preferred Barrons and Princeton Review books along with books that contained actual tests in them rather than made up practice tests (so, for the SAT, Collegeboard’s Blue book). He very much DISLIKED Kaplan and tells all of his friends to skip theirs… Just passing on his info since you are looking at books.

This son was a top 1% test taker so YMMV - he said Kaplan’s was designed to only teach tricks and produce an average score. Plus, his book and the DVD that came with it (ACT) had several typos - not “I disagree with the author” typos, but genuine “answer didn’t match the question” typos. That really irked him.

TX mom - what a nice offer!

Kyubiness, did you receive my reply? It may have repeated–for some reason, it didn’t want to go through at first. Enjoy!

@creekland thanks for the suggestion. I’m starting to think about the Kaplan

@TXMom95 It got through! There were like 3 pms, nonetheless, I received it! Thank you! I surely will enjoy it ma’am! I will update you when I take the SATs. :)

Look for Silverturtle’s SAT and Admissions guide, which can be read/downloaded here on CC in the SAT prep section. There is a lot of useful information in that guide, especially the advanced treatment of English grammar.

I will do that. :D
