Which book should I start with?

Hi CC community, I am wondering which practice tests should I start with BB, Princeton Review or Kaplan. If i start with BB i’m scared that I would run out of tests.

Yeah I was in the same situation (:

But I like to start easy. So i started with kaplan. Then after like one or two tests, I moved to Princeton review and stayed there for about 5 to 6 tests. Last take the BB tests. Repeat if necessary!

hope this helps!

@Dorkyelmo Thanks for the advice.

According to D2, Kaplan is not accurate so she ditched it. I would start with Princeton review and use the blue book to check up for score accuracy. For example, do 4 PRs and then take one BB for practice. Rinse and repeat.

In my opinion, never use Kaplan. I find it to be one of, if not, THE worst companies. I’ve tried their free writing questions that are one their site and I found so many errors that even the free help wasn’t worth my time.

If you were going to use any third-company book, I would say use the Princeton Review, and second choice would be Barrons. But definitely NOT Kaplan.

Also, don’t worry about running out of tests. You should take one BB test, record your progress, and do other tests from other books. Then, when you’ve felt that you’ve practiced a lot, go back and do another BB test and see if you got better. I feel that’s the best way.

Well for starters, she hasn’t really studied, so that’s why I suggested her using it. And Kaplan is a lot easier. So yea, @megaman6c, if you have kaplan right now, use it. If not, don’t.

But I didn’t think it would hurt to try

Kaplan is much easier than the actual test IMO. Princeton Review wasn’t too bad… maybe a little bit on the more difficult. Barron’s was a little bit more difficult as well, but I’d still recommend it. Gruber’s SAT book was very difficult to the point that it seemed counter-productive.

I would advise against using Kaplan, since it may hurt your approach towards critical reading questions. A lot of their questions are completely ripped off from college board questions as well. Another source, if you haven’t already looked into it, would be college board’s online course. There’s ten more tests and even some practice quizzes.
