I have completed two years in a University and would like to transfer now. Which school is worth it for the major in Accouting or MIS? I am looking Academic where Faculty Staff will able to help me when needed. I am also worried paying back the loans. Please rank them, if you are replying.
Villanova
Drexel
Temple
Rosemont
Bryn Mawr College
Penn State University
Is Rosemount College better than Bryn mawr and Temple in academic and getting a good job?
Bryn Mawr has excellent national name recognition and stature – it’s a “Seven Sisters” Institution, after all – whereas Rosemount (and even Temple) may not. This does NOT address the specific strengths of their respective Accounting and MIS programs per se; however, hiring decision makers (and people in general) are frequently more familiar with overall institutional repuatation than with detailed disciplinary strengths.
I think Temple may have national recognition by now. Not sure about Rosemont. OP, you said you’re concerned about paying off the loans which is very understandable. What can YOU afford? Are you in state in Pennsylvania?
@TheDidactic: Certainly, Temple has “national recognition,” and it has had for decades. However, not the level of stature normally associated with the Seven Sisters, the Ivies, and so forth. Obviously, that was my point in post #1.
You’re absolutely right. I know a family friend who raved about Bryn Mawr and its status as a women’s college. It’s really rising in the ranks as a great school.
Just realized something though. Bryn Mawr is an LAC so there wouldn’t be a business related major. I’m on the site and unless I’m wrong, there’s no accounting/business/management program there.
I just checked but Bryn mawr Doesn’t offer Business major. How would you guys rate Villanova and Penn State? I would like to work as a full time position job. Can you suggest me?
One does not necessarily need a formal “Business Major” to be highly desirable to commerce/finance/marketing/business/management recruiters. A combination of economics, finance, accounting, marketing, etc. courses will do nicely.
Bryn Mawr > Villanova >> Penn State. This, however, is only one individual’s considered opinion (and nothing more). Further, PSU is a fine, full fledged research university (extensive professional and graduate school), Villanova is an excellent university (some professional and graduate schools), and Bryn Mawr really is an outstanding LAC (few professional and graduate schools) – they differ considerably in size, scope, and character,
I go to Villanova and one of my professors is a mentor for MIS students. At Villanova, MIS majors have some of the highest salaries out-of-college of all the business majors, so if you’re looking for a solid career once you graduate, I’m fairly confident Nova can provide you with that. The professors are all very helpful and the school seems to have a good reputation with local employers and alumni. I wouldn’t choose based on prestige, however, I would go based on cost (I think Nova is pretty bad with financial aid) since it seems like it matters to you a lot. That being said, do you think Temple can do a lot for you in the business world? Or that Villanova can offer you a good price?
But just to answer your question, I don’t personally believe Rosemont is better than any of the schools on the list.
I would rank them (in terms of business)
Villanova
Temple
Penn State
Drexel
Rosemont
hockey871987and TopTier thank you for your feedback. I see two things, one is succeeding in the class, learning all the materials and if I am having difficulty, my professors should able to guide me. I heard Temple Professor don’t help you. Second thing I am looking is getting a full time and good position job As soon I graduate. I want to be successful as soon I graduate and not a struggler.
