For instance, Fullerton College is less than two miles from CSUF, while Berkeley City College is next to UC Berkeley. I believe SBCC and Cuesta College are also near UCSB and Cal Poly SLO respectively. Are there any others which share this proximity?

There are lots more. Santa Monica College (SMC) is pretty close to UCLA (best place for UC transfers). Grossmont & Mesa are both pretty close to SDSU. LBCC, Cypress, Cerritos & Golden West are all pretty close to CSULB.

As far as places that would be “most residential,” I’d say Cuesta & SBCC you’ll find lots of CC students living with the Cal Poly & UCSB students.

I would bet nearly every public college in CA has a CC within a 15 mile radius.

Cuesta is about 5 miles from CPSLO (and was recently at risk of losing its accreditation as highlighted in this article:)

You need to get on the highway to drive from SBCC to UCSB but, it is about 10miles.

SF City College is very close to SF State but, has similar accreditation challenges to Cuesta.

Sac City College is about 10 miles from Sac State and has a satellite campus adjacent UC Davis.

Are there any CSU/UCs that don’t have a CC nearby?

Mt Sac is next to Cal Poly Pomona.

The California public universities that appear to be the most distant from California community colleges:

Humboldt State: 17 miles to College of the Redwoods
CSU Chico: 15 miles to Butte College
CSU Stanislaus: 14 miles to Modesto Junior College
California Maritime Academy: 12 miles to Contra Costa College
