Which CLEP is easier?

I need to choose between Macroeconomics, Intro to Psychology and Intro to Sociology. Which of those 3 CLEP exams is easier? I really have no background in any but I think Macro may be the test for me because I am a Math major and I think this test will have some math… I am very bad at memorizing also, understand and calculating stuff is my strong side…

Which one is easier in general?

Sociology is somewhat easier than Psychology. Economics exams require reading graphs with an understanding of economic concepts–the math is minimal.

If you study for the sociology exam, you’ll find yourself saying, “Well, this is just common sense with a fancy term.” Yup. You’ll need to learn the jargon, but it’s easy to do because you can relate to the concepts. You’ll also need to know some current statistics and trends.

If you have no background in any of them, they’ll all be hard. Many people over-estimate their ability to take a test in a subject they know nothing about. They think they can pick up a book, briefly study it and then pass the test. Doesn’t usually work that way, which is why there is a high no-pass rate on most CLEP exams.

Very true! CLEP tests are difficult and require preparation, just like SAT II and AP. The difference is that if you felt bad for scoring a 550 on an SAT II or a 3 on an AP, know that similar scores in CLEP would earn college credit. There is no pride and no shame with CLEP. No one cares about your score. All that matters is that you pass the test. (“Passing” scores vary by school and some schools do not accept CLEP so be sure to check your school’s policies before taking CLEP.)

The “no shame” is the nice part about CLEP. If you think you might be able to pass a CLEP test, you can take it. If you fail, no one ever knows. If you pass it with a high enough score, you might be able to use it to advance your status in college - to become a sophomore or junior faster. (If it’s a class you are pretty good at but you took an honors section rather than an AP section, and you are planning on going to a college that accepts CLEP tests, give it a try while the material is fresh in your mind.)

I’ve only taken economics of the three. If I had to guess, I’d say sociology would be the easiest. Take practice tests. If you take at least five in the week before the test, you should pass for sure.

I believe Sociology is the easiest of these three CLEP exams.

I took sociology and macroeconomics. I scored a 56 on sociology and a 53 on macroeconomics, I study about 14 hours for each test.

Sociology felt like an easier test when I took it, but my score was lower than what I thought it was going to be. After, I finished I thought I did really good and would have at least a 60, but only got a 56. Still got me credit though and that’s all that matters. :)
