Which college good for business?

I am planning to major in business. And I am more into social sciences/humanities rather than science or enginnering.

Based on what I’ve researched about the six colleges, I have made my ranking as follows based mostly on living conditions and GEs:

 1. Muir
 2. Marshall
 3. Sixth
 4. Revelle
 5. Roosevelt (ERC)
 6. Warren

Does that seem ok for someone who likes business? I also prefer good food, good socializing, good dorms, and convenience (esp. to the gym).

there is no business major at UCSD, there is econ, management science and I think Rady School has a business minor

If I were you I would rank them:

Muir
Warren /Marshall
6th
ERC/Revelle

Lots of econ people seem to be in Marshall.

Just so you know, there is no business major at UCSD. The closest we have to business is Management Science.

Good food and good dorms would leave you with ERC and Marshall as your top two choices. Both are close to RIMAC gym and you’ll be doing downhill walking to classes as opposed to uphill if you were in Sixth or Warren.

Put Sixth College last because of bad food, bad dorms, and overall inconvenience.

I agree with mapthesoul about the food, it’s not so good. The only dining hall available is foodworx. However, I disagree that Sixth has bad dorms. Sure it has very bad residence halls, but it has some of the best apartments on campus.

the foot at foodworx isn’t that bad honestly. sure, there might not be a lot of variety, but the sandwiches, wraps, pizzas, quesedillas, and breadsticks are the best on campus. if you get sick of it, just head over to canyon vista.

the dorms at sixth aren’t bad either. don’t just a book by its cover. the outside looks like *, but when u live in the dorms they aren’t as bad as they may seem. i actually like the fact that the buildings are fairly small and only 2 stories… it isn’t a hassle if you need to move luggage or other *, compared to revelle/muir/etc.

and the “you’ll be doing downhill walking to classes” is the dumbest thing i’ve heard. when you go back to ur dorm, ur going to be doing uphill walking anyways, so it all evens out. quit crying about walking distance, grab yourself a longboard or bike, and you’re fine. even without a board or bike, the walks aren’t THAT bad. i have most of my classes at center hall, pc theatre, and warren lecture hall, and those are all relatively close to sixth compared to the other colleges.

also sixth is the closest to the bus stops, which means easy access to the buses that take you off campus to the beach/utc/ralphs/etc.

I second what happyhappy said. I’ve been to pretty much every dining hall and for the most part they usually sucks… but at sixth I know I can get a decent sandwich or personal pizza any time I need one at foodworx (it’s open till 11:00 pm on most days where everywhere else closes at 8:00pm).

I also live in the sixth apartments, and I really, really like it. Also, in all honesty none of the colleges are really “specialized” for any specific major, just look at the GE’s list and see what interests you etc, etc.

But if you get into sixth… seriously apply for the apartments, you’ll probably get it.

I agree with the above two posters… I wouldn’t say the dorms are bad at all. Foodworx gets tiring but it’s still better than Plaza Cafe (for lunch or dinner).
