Which college has better med school placement?

Out of these colleges, which has the best med school placement:

1) Colgate University

2) Colby College

3) Williams College

Studying in which of these colleges will I have better facilities of research and chances for internships at local hospitals? Which would be best overall?

Anyone?..please

idk much about LACs…I would suggest looking at larger research schools. They have many research opportunities even for undergraduates.

There"s a BIG difference in the difficulty of admission to these three schools with Williams being by far the biggest reach for most students and Colby rapidly becoming a decent match/safety for well qualified students especially male applicants. Colgate is somewhere in the middle. Additionally, these three schools are VERY different in personality and student body mix. I find it hard to believe that anyone could say that they would be happy at any of the three, they are that different.

That said, there have been numerous posts here that strongly discourage anyone from selecting an undergrad school based on med school placement. This is a very bad not to mention very foolish idea.

Pick the school that fits you best, that will allow you to excel and be happy there because what happens when classes end each day will be a big determining factor on your overall happiness which will then impact greatly on your academic success. FIT cannot be stressed enough.

Please take your eyes off med school admission and focus solely on admission to the best undergrad school for YOU and your future happiness and success there, not for post grad admission chances.

Agreed with eadad. Williams probably has the highest placement to medical school, but only by virtue of the fact that it has the most competitive student body. NOT because of some added benefit of going their. Go where you are happy and excel there. I personally went to a university with a party school rep, but I loved my time there and I was able to excel because of it. I had a dean of Harvard medical school (as well as a number of other deans, directors, and adcoms at other schools, but everyone seems to care most about what Harvard says so there you go) tell me that they were far more interested in what I did at my school rather than what its name was. Don’t worry about such stuff.

As far as research and internships. Which has the most research dollars in their budget? Which is closest to a large medical center, or which is closest to a large urban area in general?

I would contact pre-med advisors at each school and ask them. They should be more reliable source. However, your decision to attend needs to be based on the best fit for you, not on statistical history. It is your life and being happy with college choice will make your GPA better, which is an ultimate goal…

But does Colby have good research, internship opportunities?

Call and find out or go to the Colby page on this forum.
