I got into UMD under a ‘government and politics’ degree, but I also got into George Mason’s Honors College under a ‘social justice’ degree along with a $6,000 scholarship. Now my parents said that they can cover me for my bachelor’s degree, but I would need to pay for law school myself. I want to go to the school that will look best for a grad school application. I like both fairly equally, but I can’t decide if it is better to go to a more competitive school like UMD or to go to GM and get the perks of being in an honors college. Any advice? 
Law school admissions is mostly about GPA and LSAT score.
realize that the distribution of starting salaries for lawyers is not the $70K or so “average” you may have heard about. Instead that number is an misleading average of 3 groups: those finding work with a decent salary (but way under $70K) at non-elite firms or the gov’t, a small number landing jobs with starting salaries that make you salivate (and hours to match), and about 1/3 or more don’t get jobs that requires a law degree at all. So before you commit yourself to this path, take a moment to make sure you understand what you will need to do in order to have a shot at the top if that’s your goal (great grades and scores, go to a top law school, do well there).
