Which College should I apply to in CA?

I’m still not entirely sure what I want to major in or do with my life…
But I was thinking about double majoring in Business and Psychology.

Was even thinking about being an emt, but I have no clue on what I should major in for that…

I prefer to apply to mediocre UC’s and Cal States
I know for a fact that I would most likely fail to get into UCLA/UCB/UCSD etc.

I used a website called satscores/us/mychances something to see my % of acceptance and received 22% for UCLA…don’t know if it’s legit or 100% accurate…but I’m sure it’ll be very hard for me to get into any top notch UC’s

any advice? thanks guys
appreciate it

For EMT, check your local community colleges for EMT courses and certification, as 80% of EMTs in California are certified at community colleges.

The easiest UCs to get into are UC Riverside, UC Merced and UC Santa Cruz.

Having said that, many of the Cal States are excellent and very practical. I hope that you know that very few UCs offer true business degrees for undergrads. The Cal States on the other hand offer some excellent programs in business for undergrads and offer more hands on experience. I know a few psyc majors at the Cal States. I know several people that got their master’s in psyc at Cal State Long Beach and they are doing very well in their careers.

I would rethink your opinion between the systems.

With regards to EMTs, ucbalumnus is correct. Good luck

The only UCs that offer a full undergrad biz degree are Cal and Riverside, and now Irvine.

If you really don’t know what you want to do, go to your CC for a few years and figure it out. There is definitely demand for EMT and you get that degree at your CC.

If you change your mind later, you can always transfer to a four year.

Just keep in mind that the UCs that accept less than 4.0 students aren’t ‘mediocre’. These are schools with excellent faculty and lots of hard working students.

Thanks guys

I didn’t mean to sound like an ass when I said mediocre UC’s. If any offense taken, I apologize. and CC’s aren’t really an option for me.

So from what you guys are saying, it would be difficult to major in both Business and Psych?
My goal UC is to get into UCI or UCSB. Was hoping that UCR would have some psych majors as well…

I’ve been doing more research, but I still have much to look into. College apps and school work…

All UC’s do psych well. But UCSB does not have a full undergrad biz program. (SB does offer a biz-econ major, and a few accounting courses.)

oh…damn :frowning: thanks anyways!

I was actually thinking now. I may actually major in either business/criminal justice along side w/ psychology. what do you guys think? My older step brother and older cousins are all in some kind of business and they’re making bank. But after reflecting about it, I’m not so sure anymore. Don’t want to be bored from it. Thats why being an emt was a backup plan

It depends on your GPA and stats. UCLA is a great school, but harder to get into because so many people want to go there. UCSB is a great one, UCSD is too, but those aren’t the only good UC’s! UCR is a good school and UCI too (it’s primarily international population but a quality school!) UC Santa Cruz is a good one, and some cal states like Sacramento State, Sonoma State and Cal State Long Beach are good cal states. San Diego state is a good school but heavily impacted and takes most students 6 years to graduate because classes are hard to come by there :/
