I have narrowed my college options to Villanova and SMU to attend this fall. I am still conflicted on which school to attend as both are fantastic universities.
I like the huge alumni support from both schools and both have great programs for my intended major. I would be paying about the same for both schools. I am planning on majoring in either journalism, political science, or economics at either school and minoring in business. All opinions would be greatly appreciated.
I really like both schools and I just do not know what to choose.
Villanova will be better, since you have interest in business/econ. Very highly ranked in these categories. I’m not sure, but I don’t think SMU will give you the opportunities Villanova will (although I have heard their business school has gotten better recently.)
How much does each cost if you calculate (tuition, fees, room, board) - (scholarships, grants)? DO NOT deduct any loan. What’s your parents’ budget?
SMU is crazy expensive. The total cost is $67,000 and Villanova is about $64,000. Both costs are very similar. I also received similar financial aid packages for both. I got the highest grants from each school. Each school gave me $30,000 in grant money. My parents are divorced, but they can contribute about $10,000 a year to help me.
