<p>ahhhh. so many different answers. 
The only reason I’m applying to Yale is because I have legacy, but that only helps so much. We all know its close to impossible to get into Yale or Stanford anyway.</p>
<p>As for the comments on weather… I love California. However I love the campuses at Yale and Cornell… and Harvey Mudd’s is terrible… but that’s not something to make a decision off of.</p>
<p>I like Harvey Mudd because it’s small and there seems to be nice people there, and I like the area (I do not want to live in a big city like LA or New York) However, like someone mentioned, the name outside of the engineering field does not have much recognition. That and the lower GPA curve worries me about what will happen when applying for jobs… although I hear they have good connections and their grads tend to go to good graduate universities. </p>
<p>I’m really unsure and more input would be great. I appreciate everything people have commented here. I know this decision will be a hell of a lot easier to make when I see where I actually get in haha. :)</p>

<p>Harvey Mudd will give you a fantastic education but I vote for Stanford. I love that place. The atmosphere seems great (I’ve visited both). I ultimately turned HMC down for Penn and was rejected to Stanford, though.</p>

<p>I think Stanford and Cornell are more or less the same engineering wise. Also, UC Berkeley and Mudd are more or less the same engineering wise. Out of all of them, they are all still great engineering colleges.</p>
<p>Harvey Mudd- especially since I’m a girl and girls are underrepressented there- you know what that means :}
Also, Harvey Mudd seems more fun with a sense of community and you can’t beat a college mostly devoted to engineering in CALIFORNIA! (warm/sunny/)</p>

<p>Actually there’s an all-girls school in the Claremont Consortium, so there are plenty of girls around.</p>

<p>Yeahh ha. I first thought about the underrepresented bit… but there is an all girls school across the street, like you said. Only advantage is that the dorms have the 3/10 female ratio. :)</p>
<p>I would probably go to Stanford, such a nice campus and great engineering program! Berkeley is nice, but too big for my tastes. Even though I couldnt’ get into either lol</p>

<p>I have Legacy at Yale, My Dad works at UCI so I heard that helps for the UC system, I’m a female going into engineering, I’m a first generation American… Romanian is spoken in my house as a second language. Lol I hope all these help a little.</p>
<p>But seriously… got to get my scores up. I think after I see where I get in, the decision will be A LOT easier.</p>

<p>For engineering i have to pick none of the above. i would definitely go to virginia tech. its engineering programs are off the charts, and its extremely affordable.</p>

<p>does it only help if your parents or grandparents went to the college you apply for or is there a part that you can put where you have other relatives that attended the college also. Also if your parents did attend the college that you are applying to does it only help if they are alumni?</p>
