Which colleges accept supplemental letters of rec?

<p>I know a lot of colleges don’t want extra letters of rec from a non-academic source, say a coach, clergyman, etc, but which colleges do accept extra letters as supplemental information?</p>

<p>My counselor told me that USC does not accept extra letters of recommendation, is that true?</p>

<p>I’m applying to USC, Middlebury College, Boston College, College of William and Mary, Williams College, Washington University in Saint Louis, and New York University.</p>

<p>I have a hard time navigating their websites, so I’m not sure whether or not to allow my Kung Fu instructor/Master to submit an extra letter for me. My counselor said she didn’t know much about it, but told me she would put them in with hers if I gave them to her. Should the sealed envelope be labeled with Kung Fu Master Supplemental Recommendation?</p>

<p>Oh, since USC requires certain forms, what do give my extra writer and if he’s mailing it in himself, how can he indicate that the letter is for me?</p>

<p>Your supplemental recommender will not need to fill out any forms. S/he should send his/her letter to USC labelled as “Supplemental Rec for greenpeas” on the envelope and on the letter itself.</p>

<p>From my experience, some schools will say you can send in an extra letter, and some never mention it, but no one will penalize you for sending one in. Of my daughters CA schools, half would allow an extra rec through the CA site, but that seemed to complicate things, so we gave the recommender addressed and stamped envelopes. We also asked her to include daughters CA number in the letter.</p>
