Which colleges consider senior 1st half grades?

does anyone know colleges that consider the 1st half grades of your senior year?

i’m planning on applying to the UC’s, umich, u illinois, and northwestern for engineering but i’m willing to apply to others as well if they accept senior 1st half grades

Well, I know the Ivies do.

do the ivies consider freshman grades too?

Sure???

Everywhere. Any regular decision school gets a mid-year school report from your school.

but which ones actually consider it as much as your soph+junior grades?

UNC does unless you apply Early Action. Most schools consider freshman grades. UCs are a notable exception.

They will all look at your first semester grades. Those grades need to be consistent with or better than your other grades. If you apply ED, then first semester senior grades cannot be factored into the equation, but many will ask for your first quarter grades.

does anyone know how i can find out whether a school does or doesn’t?

Your junior grades are the most important ones. Even if 1st semester senior grades are looked at, they are not weighted as much as your junior grades are.

Why? Are you planning on slacking off 1st semester? Think of it this way, you don’t want to give the adcom any reason to doubt you. Even a school that doesn’t consider 1st semester senior year will undoubtably get your 1st semester senior grades at some point and won’t want to see something dramatically worse than your other grades.

check the UC admissions policy (pdf…i think)… it’s a little vague about senior grades. although they’re not calculated into your gpa, they “consider them” before “giving a final decision”. let me know how you interpret their statement. I would just take as many honors/ap classes as you can, can’t hurt too much.

Your senior schedule matters no matter what. bad1017, I think he actually wants to improve his chance by getting good 1st semester grades.

yea i was planning on taking AP calc bc, lit, psych, and chem (along with journalism and cross country because i’ve been in it for two years already)

or should i ditch cross country for another AP (my AP’s in senior year aren’t that hard and i heard that if i don’t have any awards or anything for cross country it’s basically worthless)
