Hey! I’m a junior girl in high school in Georgia and I’m really excited for your responses! Which colleges out of the following to you think would have significantly higher admission rates with EA or ED?

Boston College
New York University
College of William and Mary
University of North Carolina Chapel Hill
University of Virginia
University of Michigan Ann Arbor
University of California Los Angeles
University of Southern California
University of California Berkeley

Thank you so much!! I would appreciate ANY advice!!

Cross off the UC colleges to start with. They don’t have any kind of EA/ED program; one “application filing period” for everyone.

Oh really? Thanks so much! I’ll keep that in mind then!

UCs in general do not have any EA or ED program.

An exception is UC Riverside. A high stats student can pre-apply in June or July just after junior year for guaranteed admission if s/he later completes a regular UC application at the usual time and maintains high achievement in senior year. It is non-binding. (Yes, it is too late for current seniors to get in on this.)

[Our Guarantee](New Students | Apply | Undergraduate Admissions | UC Riverside)

In general, if your credential is above admission average, applying ED would help. EA is somewhat different. It may or may not help even you are above admission average, but at least it would not hurt in most case.

I’m doing UChicago EA just for the earlier decision.

Look at the different admission %s for each school and that would tell you. I think EA gives a slight boost just because the Admissions Officers want to get rolling and get some bodies into the upcoming class. Then when the crush comes early next year, for the more selective schools, it comes down to how to eliminate as there are so many apps for the seats left.

Have you asked your parents about paying for those OOS public Us? For instance, UMich will cost $50k+/year. UCLA and UCB are similar.

^ UMich current COA for OOS is $55K/year. Even more for CoE. Financial aid for OOS is very limited.
