Which colleges fit this?

Which colleges fit this?

urban or college town with a city nearby
Northeast (New York area would be best)
not extremely selective but with an intellectual student body
opportunity for internships
well known, i want to be able to find a good job after I graduate

so far i came up with NYU, although i would not go as far as saying this is a match (admissions wise) for me

Im doing this to find some safety/match schools. I have plenty of reaches

RPI, RIT, University of Rochester, Columbia (as a reach), Northeastern…well, it’s tough to give more without knowing what kind of academic programs you’re looking for. RPI and RIT and more technical of course, if that’s what you’re looking for. RIT and Northeastern both including Co-op as a graduation requirement.

Although I am looking at computer science/ IT as a possible major I want to have an option to minor in something else. I do consider myself a math person. However, I am afraid of an engineering school due to extremely heavy course load. I admit it.

you could say northwestern is selective but if you get in, you’ll have plenty of internship opportunities with chicago right next door.

Definitely check out Northeastern and Rochester then, both have strong computer science programs but plenty of other stuff. Northeastern isn’t too tough to get into, and it has a specific school for computer science/IT. Rochester is tougher, but has a great campus, is right near downtown Rochester, and has lots of variety (and no required courses :)).

Fordham might interest you.

thanks for suggestions. I know Fordham is religiously affiliated but do you feel it through out the student body. Is there some kind of religion requirement?

Fordham is Jesuit, so there is that Catholic affiliation. But they have students of all religious faiths and, like Boston College and Georgetown (and others) it is there if you want it, but it is not forced upon you. That being said, there is a core requirement that includes 2 religion courses. They are not an indoctrination into the Catholic faith, but rather more along the lines of comparative religion course. Check it out more in detail at their website.

They have several campuses, one in Manhattan near Lincoln Center, and the main campus at Rose Hill, in the Bronx.
