I would say 1-10 extreme reach, 11-25 reach (esp. with a 3.3 GPA, Berkeley and UCLA are in the top 25 and I don’t know anyone at either with less than a 3.7 UW), 26-40 slight reach, 41-60 match, 61+ safety.

1 -10 : Close to impossible (not saying there isnt a chance)
11 - 20: extreme reaches
20 - 30: reach
30 - 40: Good chance (above match tho)
40- 50: Match
50+ : Safety

tell us more… preferences for size/location of school? any idea of potential majors? student body being artsy/preppy/liberal/jocks/intense/etc etc etc?

In the absence of other data, I think you are going to have difficulty with admissions at colleges that accept less than, say, 30% of their applicants. This is oversimplifying the whole process (which depends on a great many factors) - but you should be sure that you have match and likely admit schools schools in among your reaches.

If your hs sends a number of its graduates to highly competitive schools every year, your GC should have data on admissions by GPA/Class Rank and SAT or ACT scores. This data - if available - will give you a better picture of your chances than anyone on this board can. It will let you know how much of a disadvantage you are working with due to your class rank.

i had a 25 act and 3.3 uw gpa. got into uconn, tennessee, kentucky, saint johns, lsu, wvu, and a psu branch campus. rejected from uga, wisconsin, uf. i applied to uga, uw,uf, lsu, and uconn for spring semester after i graduated, all the other i applied to while in HS

heh, ill be going to uconn. my parents went there, always wanted to go, but my mom was totally against me going there. she wouldnt let me even apply in HS! i actually was set up to go to uk then decided not to go, so i next chose psu but decide i really wanted to try for uconn so i defered my enrollment behind my moms back and took a semester off. for spring admission, in addition to uconn, i decided to apply to uga, uf, and uw as “what the heck” kinda apps, wasnt really expexting to get in. applied to lsu as well because i would get instate tuition (same with kentucky and tennessee). anyways i got into uconn and got really good fin aid from them, about 8k in grants, plus 2k in work study…kind of a long/silly story haha, i have a hard time making up my mind with these things…

UConn is a very good school with a number of excellent departments. Congrats on your acceptance … and the circuitous route you took to get there. Shows initiative!

Northwestern (12)- Extreme Reach
University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (25)- Reach
University of Wisconsin Madison (34)- Good Chance
University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (42)- Match
University of Minnesota Twin Cities (74)- Safety

This is with an ACT score of 25, in june i am positive to try to bring it above a 30. Although its not likely that these choices i have made will change in any way.
