I need help cutting down my college list.

What I’m looking for in a college:
- Strong in undergraduate sciences (specifically biochemistry)
- Has a good music conservatory for symphony orchestra
- Accepting of all view points i.e. not radical and not too liberal or conservative

Current List:
Allegheny
Bowdoin
Carleton
Earlham
Grinnell
Haverford
Kalamazoo
Lawrence
Macalester
Mount Holyoke
Oberlin
Reed
Rochester
Williams
Wooster

If you’re interested in research, Reed (1) leads these schools in future bio and chem PhD production percentage, (2) has no music conservatory (but has a chamber orchestra), (3) is quite liberal, but “too” liberal is in the eye of the beholder. ;)

drop wooster. If you have allegheny it seems redundant

reed is pretty left-leaning, if you’re more into moderates.

^ Thats probably an understatement, Mac and Oberlin are probably up there too

Lawrence sounds like a perfect fit for you

I’d put Wooster in over Allegheny; it’s stronger academically.

I’m dropping Allegheny and a couple others for other reasons (Lawrence too, because it’s too far away :(). Thanks to everyone for their input!

According to a tour/info session I went on last year, Bowdoin does not have an orchestra. The tour guide was fairly clueless, though, so this may not be accurate.

Rochester would seem like exactly what you are looking for.
