Which colleges should I visit?

I’ve basically held back on visiting any colleges until I’ve been accepted to them, and now that the results have come, I’m not sure exactly which colleges I should bother visiting.

I’ve been admitted to:
UC Berkeley
UCLA
Colorado School of Mines (safety)

While I’ve been to all of the campuses before, I’ve never critically analyzed any of them before. So, I’ve decided its time to meet professors, check out the dorms, etc. before deciding.

I live in southern California. I’m pretty sure I want to go to Berkeley, as that has been my first choice (tied with MIT) for some time, and I’ll definitely be visiting it. Since UCLA is close, I’m thinking - well, why not.

The question remains: should I visit my safety? It offered me the best financial aid package out of all of them, and I’ve lived close to it for a good half of my life (before moving to CA). Or, should I simply take a virtual tour and be done with it?

I want to make sure that I do enough research before I submit a SIR. I’m mostly looking for somewhere with lots of opportunity, irreverence, and diversity.

Most definitely visit your UC schools. Then, I would see how you feel about them. If you are positive that you’d really like to go to one of them, it’s probably not worth going to see your safety.

Of course, financial aid plays into it. How much does that matter? If it matters a whole lot, it’s probably worth a visit. If it doesn’t matter as much and you think you’ll chose a UC school anyway, it’s probably not worth visiting.

Let’s be serious. Berkeley meets those criteria best by far. Go Bears!
