Any test scores? It looks like you need big merit schools.
Of in state schools. My kids who went OOS still paid more (a little bit) than in state Rutgers/TCNJ after merit with higher stats, but other in state schools can get lower with merit. My 3.7 was offered $10,000 a year from Stockton, $5000 a year from Montclair (30 act).
Medical Schools do track where their students come from and where they go after.
UG name is not important, but how their past graduates perform at the school does matter.
Most UG also track their graduates. The pre-professional office should keep all the stats and are available as matter or public record.
Like many have said, IMO the ābestā place for pre-med should be:
- as cheap as possible.
- offers enough research and EC for resume building
- have a proven track record of sending graduates to variety of med schools.
- one you get into and can do well.
Sounds like OP is not in the medical field, so #2 will be very important.
Do you currently have another child who is a college freshman? Last January you posted this. And then in April, you posted their acceptance options.
How are you financing college for kid one? And how will you do two in college at the same time?
I only ask because if this medical school aspirant is going to be in college at the same time, this most definitely will affect your finances.
Or are these not your kids?
This is a little off topicā¦butā¦how? And no they donāt. Actually many many colleges have no idea what students do years after they leave undergrad school. And one statistic that is off is the %age of students who they send to medical school. Most schools donāt include those who are non-traditional meaning they donāt go straight to med school after undergradā¦or do a post bacc. Or whatever.
@WayOutWestMom am I way off here?
Not individually but as a group. When yo submit an AMCAS application, you put down your UG school. How many people from your school filed an application, where they applied to and get accepted all kicks back to UG and they keep that info. The med school will you matriculate completes the AMCAS loop.
UCLA for years will have printouts for its students to see where, how many, GPA, and acceptance. Back in the 90ās ethnicity was also included as well as ādisadvantagedā status.
Med Schools track you pretty easily, from where you matched and then state licensure. All these info are public record so they can call you for donations.
I see, I miss spoke. My UG (UCLA) knows what I do, but Iām not sure if that was some info I volunteered at some point, or they āgoogledā me.
