Which Degree is more valuable in Texas?

I plan on doing engineering (probably Mechanical), and of all the schools ive been accepted to, its come down to UT vs. UMich. I live in texas so UT would be half the price, and im not quite sure which degree is more valuable within Texas because I plan on living here after college. Also, ive been accepted to Michigan’s engineering program, but UT only accepted me to my second-choice school, McCombs Business. I know I can probably transfer into the engineering school at UT after a year in business, or i might even do ERB (Engineering Route to Business), but im not sure if its worth the trouble because ive heard and seen great things at Michigan.

Does anyone have any input on the situation? I also was considering getting an MBA after undergraduate but im not sure if I want to do that yet. Thanks!

UT degree will be more valuable in Texas. Most Texas companies, most likely with many UT alumni, will recruit at UT. The only downside I see here is that you have not been accepted to UT engineering. The key question is whether it is hard to transfer to engineering at UT or not.

Thanks for the Input Christian2! I see your point and I agree that alot of companies will probably recruit from UT. Its just a pain knowing that i didnt get into the engineering school directly because I dont want to miss out on any of the core engineering classes freshman year, and I also feel like Michigan has a slightly stronger engineering department and possibly more personalized because it is half the size of UT.

Texas A&M–Only given the Aggie Network.

In terms of actual degree… engineering/technology.
