So, which ones tend to roll out the most dough for applicants? haha.

student01…your question makes no sense. Regardless of your “department” you are MORE likely to get a scholarship if you are at the tippy top of the applicant pool.

Well I heard that at some schools, the Art department gives out a lot of big-time scholarship money. I also heard it’s one of the more “easy” majors (I know it’s subjective, but…) so I was thinking about taking it since I’m also interested in it somewhat.

I know I’ll probably do business (original plan) and art, if art helps me get a lot of scholarships. Does that make more sense?

Be that as it may, i have heard that the science and engenering departments give out alot…

there is more federal aid available for science/engineering/ math with the SMART grant.

And this would be school specific anyways , some schools allocate money by department/ major, some dont.

Schools awarding aid by department are doing so on the basis of MERIT. For art students, for example, it would be on the strength of your portfolio. For music, drama, dance…strength of your audition. For science and math departments it would be the strength of courses, grades and any honors you received in those areas. For English, it might be for a student who has published works or otherwise demonstrated outstanding work in the field.

Departmental scholarships are given to students who the college highly wants to attract.

Typically the most generous academic departments are engineering, agriculture, and nursing, which depending on the school may have excellent merit aid to offer top applicants.
