Which dorm should I choose?

I got into GW during ED, and now I’m looking at the dorms. The only one I’ve seen the inside of is Thurston, and I definitely do not want to live there. I’m not a total loner, but I’m also not into the whole “party dorm” aspect. So far the nicest dorms seem to be Lafayette and Potomac, but since there is so little information or photos provided about each I have no idea how to compare them.

Which has nicer/bigger rooms? Also, do you share your bathroom with only your one roommate, or with them and the people in the room next to you? The floor plans on GW’s website are pretty vague.

I’d go for lafayette - it was just completely redone in 2011 and it’s in a good location.

I heard that Lafayette is the engineering dorm, though. Is it true that nearly all the students there are engineering students and that they’re given priority for placement there?

I wish GWU would post pictures of the renovations. Saman42, I’m not sure if it’s the engineering dorm, but I wouldn’t mind if it was. Most of my high school friends are future engineers haha. As for priority placement, it was strongly implied by GWU that ED students get first pick over everyone else, regardless of the college they’re in.

Oh, I just saw that you’re ED. Disregard my last post, then. You can choose whichever dorm at this point.

But please don’t choose Potomac hahah. I want there to still be some spots left there for us RD’ers lol.

i’d recommend this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/george-washington-university/1273309-dorm-profiling.html

You can pm if you have any specific questions :)

@saman42 haha don’t worry, i know some RDers who have been able to get potomac. but if you really want to boost your chances, find a roommate on facebook who ED’d.

^That’s a good idea! I hadn’t even thought of doing that

Have you guys heard of roomserve.com? A girl in my class is going to BU and they sent her an email about it. I guess its almost like a dating site-you answer questions for yourself and how your 'perfect roommate" would answer and then it matches you. Does GWU use this?

Have you guys all gotten some kind of form/something that lets you choose dorms? I was accepted ED and sent in my check 2 days before the deadline, so I’m really scared they didn’t get it :-/. What info have they sent you?

A lot of people are using ■■■■■■■■.

And we don’t get housing stuff until later. We might get a letter telling us about it. But the app doesn’t open until April

Oh when she said it I thought it was “serve”. Surf makes a lot more sense! Lol
