<p>Yes, Freshmen can put down the mini-suites as a choice. They are not apartments. The apartments are Wada and others.</p>

<p>I was thinking of rooming in Foothill, i hear from people that it is quieter and more roomy than the units. I would like to be able to study in peace and quiet, but at the same time I would like to have a good social life. Are the units too hard to study in at night? Is it possible to have a social life while living in Foothill?</p>
<p>during the tour, the tour leader says most of the people at foothill are quiet and studious because many are in the engineering field (since the dorms are near the engineering facilities)</p>
<p>During the EECS presentation, tthe student panel said most of the first year classes are on the south side of campus anyways. So there’s really no distance advantage for choosing Foothill.</p>
<p>IndianDude: You can choose to have a quiet roommate and a quiet floor under the preferences for living situation. Foothill is not the only place for peace and quiet.</p>

<p>Here’s the lowdown on Foothill from someone who’s lived there for the past year:</p>
<p>It’s quiet, and you won’t have to worry about needing peace to study: throughout this entire school year I’ve never had a problem.</p>
<p>In terms of having a social life, there’s no reason why you wouldn’t have any problems, although most of the excitement is admittedly down on the Southside. I personally spend tons of time in Freeborn (the substance-free dorm, more on that below), which can be a trek from Foothill, but it’s not a marathon. The people here are pretty introverted, but that doesn’t mean you have social animals here. Ultimately, it’s a good place if you want a slightly bigger room and more time to study, but if making friends and having an active social life are on par with your concern with grades, then I actually suggest the Units.</p>
<p>Freeborn is a great place to live, aim78. It’s really exactly the same as the other buildings in Unit 1, and people are generally really friendly.</p>

<p>How about unit 3? I put that as my first choice, but now im kinda regretting it b/c a lot of people say it’s shabbier and older than the other units…</p>
<p>Unit 3 is a fine choice: it’s arguably the most active socially and it’s smack dab in the middle of all that Telegraph excitement. It just hasn’t been recently upgraded like Units 1 and 2 have. I have to admit, I would rather live in the other units simply because of the new additions (music practice rooms, exercise rooms, conference rooms? What else they got in there?) but that doesn’t mean that Unit 3 is a bad place to be. It’s closest to important stuff (central campus, Telegraph) and you’re going to meet lots of fun people.</p>
