1- I work as an artist for an online game with about 1,000,000 users (I’ve done ~600 illustrations for the site)

2- 300 volunteer hours with a local charity

Which one sounds more impressive? Is charity work viewed in a more positive light than work-work? If I only had a space left on my common app for 1?
thanks

Volunteering and helping people sounds better than designing stuff for a game. Why not put both? I think there is a space on the CommonApp for additional information.

You can definitely list both activities. One is volunteering, the other a paid position. If you want to sound unique (a goal!), talk up your experience as an artist. There’s nothing special about volunteering at a hospital, and most people think that’s like delivering flowers or slave labor in a gift shop.

oops, your volunteer is for a local charity, but those jobs are often mindless wastes of time that anyone can do, like stuffing envelopes. Whereas your paid position requires something special: talent.
