Which ECs do top colleges look for?

Im in MUN, Spanish club, key club, pre law, and pre med. Are there any specific ECs that I should sign up for? I go to a private school and am a junior. I could make any varsity sport and am in varsity football and golf.

Do only what you are interested in and what you genuinely enjoy doing. This way, it will be a lot easier for you to excel at those activities. Passion is really what top schools, including the Ivies, are looking for.

I am looking at USC as a top choice. What do they like to see EC wise?

“What do they like to see EC wise?”

The ones that you like and are interested in doing.

2-4 nobel prizes and a couple imo medals are a good idea…

Um really, do what you enjoy spending time on. MUN, varsity sports, etc. are fine if you really commit yourself to them and accomplish something.

They love it if you are a recruitable athlete in your sport…if not, I do think varsity sports are one of the top ec’s because of the large time commitment they entail. Do what you are most passionate about and can really delve into.

I’m also a junior and USC is my top scoice! Go class of 2011!

Anyway, besides sports, being on the school newspaper or in drama are also good ec’s for USC but go where your passion is.

A typical resume padder…doesn’t even care about actually liking the activity.

The thing they don’t want to see is an applicant who is obviously doing tons of ECs that they’re not interested in just because they think “that’s what the admissions officers want to see.”

Seriously, do you think these people have a checklist or something? “This person doesn’t have a varsity sport…rejected!” The college process may be kind of convoluted but c’mon! Just do what you like. If you want to do more sports than do that. If you want to do something else, do that. Just don’t do something because you think the adcoms will like it, because they won’t.
