Which Eng Course to take?

Hi there.

Currently my options are Writing 39B or Humanities1A. I was wondering which writing course would better prepare me for the MCAT. I do not care for which class is harder or easier, but instead which would increase my chances/better prepare me for the MCAT. Thanks!

Probably Humanities. I went to SPOP 1 and my adviser told me of the rigor of the course where you have to read about one book a week. He even told me not to enroll in Humanities unless I really liked English. However, Humanities will also satisfy several GEs and let you focus on your premed courses for the future so I think you should go for that.

Just for clarity, pretty much all English or Literature-in-Translation courses require you to read a book a week (300-400 pages is the norm–especially true for English 102’s). Writing or Literary Journalism don’t have as much reading.
