I think computer or software is the most crowded but I am not sure since there are too many companies where one can get a job in that field so it becomes relatively less crowded.
can anyone figure out which one is the least crowded and which one is the most crowded considering the amount of people into it and the corresponding number of companies.
I am sure its going to be too inaccurate but I am just curious.
thank you in advance.

Corresponding to the number of companies? Most crowded would be Aerospace and least crowded I would guess would be Computer Science/Software Engineering.

What are you actually trying to discern from this definition of crowded?

least crowded computer science?!
you mean it would be easy to get a job in that sector with an average GPA ?

an average gpa student is more likely to get hired in a field with low student to company ratio compared to a field having higher ratio.
i am just curious, nothing to discern specifically.it should just help me decide my major.

No, what I was saying that there are more companies which employ computer science majors compared to the number of computer science graduates every year than any other engineering major.

This is false. That’s why I asked what you were trying to discern from defining crowdedness that way. You should ask something along the lines of how many open positions on average are there for every graduate of an individual major.

If you’re asking which major would be easiest to get a job in from an average school with an average GPA, I would guess the best is ChemE or CS/CE and worst would be Civil.

I agree with Vlad that the answer depends on what your definition of ‘crowded’ is

You could be talking about actual physical space, in which case choose computer / CIS engineering , where you’ll be trapped in 30 sq ft cubicle for your entire career

If you mean which fields have the brightest future / possibility of getting hired at a high salary, the best would be chemical / petroleum engineering , or if you’re looking for something ‘off the beaten path’ , try mining engineering

The worst field, at least for the forseeable future here in our nation of citizen NIMBYs [ not in my back yard ] & NOPEs [ not on planet Earth ] … is nuclear engineering

For a long time it looked like NE was staging a comeback as the world’s supply of fossil fuels are running out + all this ridiculous fear of global warming … but the recent earthquake / tsunami in Japan changed all that overnight

I think Civil / Mechanics are the most crowded engineerings on earth.
CS / EE / CpE aren’t even enough LOL
Well. Speaking of the transistors and the nano-conductors… sure. How long? A number that is beyond light year.
