Which has best and worst MATH department? UCLA, UCB, NYU, or Carnegie?

<p>NYU is #1, imo. Amazing, amazing department (surprising to many?).</p>

<p>I am not sure NYU is #1 in pure Mathematics. I agree that it is #1 in Applied Mathematics. As far as Pure Mathematics goes, Cal is #1 in the group of four. NYU and UCLA are roughly equal. CMU is weakest in this group, but it is also excellent. All four are very good. </p>

<p>we’re splitting hairs here, particularly at the u/g level. get into one of them. go to it. you’ll get a great math education if the school and dept are a fit for you.</p>
