which has better econ program ucsd?uci?

finally received the rejection display from ucla today…
i guess 3.81 and all the ecs wasn’t good enough to la to…

so i have to decide on these two colleges…

does anyone know what’s pro and cons of these two college?

hmm…UCSD is ranked higher…don’t know about econ program though…both are good schools. Go to the one you want to.

I had similar stats and was rejected from UCB and UCLA in econ as well. I’ll probably be going to UCSD in management science economics which isn’t a bad alternative. UCSD’s graduate economics department ranks just below UCB and above UCLA so I assume the undergrad is comparable. Good luck on your decision.

UCSD. Did you apply to SB? Good BizEcon program and my friends who go there love it.

Go with the school with more nobel prize winners in the field…UCSD.

thing i hear about ucsd econ is that its tough to get a job(and internship) with that major down there (la jolla).

I am in the same situation with u guys…got rejected by LA n berkeley… thinking to go to UCSD but still not sure lol… I don’t know may be UCI …

UCSD has an absolutely amazing econ program. I would definitely choose san diego over UCI in terms of good econ departments.

ya ucsd has a great econ program. plus irvine or san diego? is that even a question?

i love the irvine area :]

^^ I live in Irvine…very safe…very clean…very boring

safe clean but boring… seems like living in a forest or something. ahahha

Not to burst any bubbles… but La Jolla (UCSD) isn’t that exciting. Just like Irvine, you will need a car to go and do anything fun.

Those who say Econ is “great” at UCSD, can you expand on this? How is it so great? What makes it better than others? I don’t doubt you, it will just help me decide if I got UCSD or not.

UCSD Econ is top rated because its faculty managed to bag 4 nobel prizes within the past 5 years which indeed is a stupendous achievement…Plus UCSD is by far the best in Econometrics, which is the field of the future and which will continue to boom …
