Which industry line would be more attractive...

…in getting accepted to a top 5 - 10 MBA program; working in transactionary services or consulting for a Big4 firm (and picking up a CPA) or working in a commerical bank (perhaps PNC, National City, or Mellon) and working towards a CFA. I realize this question involves come other factors, namely grades, GMATs, perhaps even age or race, but in terms of which job looks better, which would it be?

Though I am definitely going to try for one, I am not totally confident in my ability to get an internship for next summer in an I-bank because I attend a non-target school (U of Pittsburgh). I’m going to aim more towards boutique banks located outside of NYC, or possibly smaller-middle market banks in NYC. I am reasonably confident in my ability to get a position at either of the two options I discussed above for the summer, and hopefully, acquire a fulltime offer.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
