Which Internship should I choose?

I have two internship opportunities

 1. Make A wish Foundation–I will be a “research and corporate development” intern…basically i research corporations that can contribute to Make A wish and produce “rationale” sheets for them.

Hospital-- With the The Patient safety officer–(he tries to reduce patient harm that is caused by ineffiencies with the hospital like lack of finances, organizational problem with the hospital, etc). He emailed me telling me basically if i could incorporate business into his area of interest (patient safety) he would give me the internship. I figure I could help him with the budget, doing research, and gathering statistics, making proposals on reducing patient harm and carrying them out.

These are basically the only two internships I am probably going to get offers from since everything else is for upper level people. (I am a sophmore who got in to the business school, but won’t take any real business clases till junior year).

I really want to go into consulting and will probably do my concentration in finance, so I was wondering if you give me an opinion on which internship I should do. Both are unpaid so the money part doesn’t even matter. I just want to have an internship that will give me the experience that is necessary for me to get a better internship next year.

Make A Wish is what i’d go with.

yup, same here

Questions to ask in order to make this decision:

Which one are you most interested in?

Which one do you feel most confortable with the person who would be your boss?–and the people who you will be working with?

Which one will provide more “similar to Finance duties” experience (sounds like the second one at the medical center)?

Which one will provide more training opportunities for you?

Which do you think would provide more networking opportunities?

Do you feel like you would be providing a valuable service at each of them?

Enjoy your internship–and have a great summer.
