Which is better for a Scandinavian MA: Wash-Seattle or Wisc-Madison?

I’ve ruled out Minn-Twin Cities (BA is required), Tex-Austin (weather displeases me), Mich-Ann Arbor (too limited), and Cal-Berkeley (I’d prefer to not obtain my MA and PhD from the same place).

So that leaves me with Washington and Wisconsin. I know, I know; the former is a much better location for extra-curricular activities, but is its Scand. program up to par with the latter’s?

This is just hearsay, but I have heard that the our (U-Wash) Scandinavian program is one of our better programs.

Heh, almost forgot this topic!

Yeah, Professor Stecher-Hansen seems scholarly (read: hip).

Wisconsin has the oldest department in the country, it is highly ranked…
