agreed. if the hotel sees that you are passionate and responsible, weekends should work out fine! when it comes down to it, i would really try to get the hotel experience.

thanks all!
however, marching band basically takes over my weekends…i’m not even kidding. saturdays: practice from 8-noon, football game 1:30-4, and sometimes competition until late night. nearly every other sunday: practice in morning, competition(s) until late night. as i said, marching band is unfortunately very time consuming.

so i thought that maybe i should quit it this year to dedicate my time working at a hotel?

I think working full-time during the summer is good enough experience; try to work in as many departments as you can. When it comes to when school starts next year, you can decide whether you like working at the hotel better, or doing band.

Leadership is one of those things that is really valued by the hotel school. I think if you have good summer experience at the local hotel, that the marching band would be a good thing.

Did you know that Cornell is the only Ivy with a marching band? And every year that the Cornell-Columbia football game is played in Manhattan they march down 5th Ave?
